Dara Park is situated on 95.5 acres of lush grazing land in Longwarry, Victoria. Longwarry is a small township situated about 25 minutes from Packenham travelling along the Princess Highway towards Warragul. The farm itself consists of large paddocks arranged so that horses are run in small groups. Youngsters are generally run together in same sex groups and even colts are kept together until they are at least three or four.
Dara Park began as Aratar Arabians in 1984 with the purchase of my first purebred colt, the crabbet bred Ethereal Inspiration. Very soon afterwards I began collecting a group of purebred mares with two of those mares still showing a strong influence in the stud today. They were Engle Seona and Arabesque Dahanah.
The years since have seen me get married to Frank and the stud has undergone not only a name change, but a slight change in direction. The original crabbet based breeding program gave way to one based predominately on the blood of the great El Shaklan. More recently a straight egyptian breeding program was added as we strive to move closer and closer to our ideal arabian, one that shows not only good conformation and movement, but also extreme type. For us temperament is of paramount importance and our breeding horses are selected with all of these attributes in mind..
Timmy
Our gorgeous pet pomeranian who thinks he's the resident guard dog and keeps everyone in order here at Dara Park.
Unfortunately our much loved Timmy passed away after an unfortunate accident with a horse.
