MARES OF DARA PARK
The mares of Dara Park are our pride and joy as they are all of outstanding quality.  They consist of several Australian top 10 mares as well as mares that have produced A class and AA class supreme champions both in the halter ring and under saddle.  Every one of our broodmares has been chosen for her excellent conformation, overall quality and temperament.

Our mares are generally bred every second year which allows them to rear their foals, putting everything into their current youngster.  They run in large, grassy paddocks with constant access to high quality grazing and mineral blocks.  Our girls are always well rounded and in excellent condition as are their foals.  We run a very stringent worming program, making full use of EQUEST GEL, especially over the Summer and early Autumn period.  For the rest of the year we rotate with other dung beetle friendly wormers.

Our mares and foals are regularly attended to by our farrier, Mr Colin Taylor and by our vets from both Station Street Veterinary Clinic, Kooweerup and  Essential Equine Veterinary Clinic, Labertouche.

Here at Dara Park we believe in the systematic testing of our breeding horses for genetically transmitted diseases such as SCID and CA.  To this end, we are working our way through our horses in order to make informed breeding decisions.  Both of our breeding stallions are tested CLEAR for both SCID and CA and many of our mares have either been tested for SCID or are from known SCID CLEAR parents.  We will continue to do this in the future but would like to make it clear that we do not support the removal of SCID or CA carrier horse from the breeding pool, so long as these horses are of the highest  calibre.
